Hopi
Ear Candles at the
Creative Health Centre, Brierley Hill, Stourbridge
What
are Hopi Ear Candles?
Hopi
Ear Candles (often shortened to Ear Candles) are hollow tubes
traditionally made from organically grown flax and beeswax.
They provide a non-invasive treatment of the ears which are
used to treat a variety of conditions.
How
do Hopi
Ear Candles work? The
hollow candle acts like a chimney. When the candle is lit at
the top, there is a mild suction which will draw out impurities
from the ear into the lower section of the candle. The rising
air inside the ear then sets up a vibration which gently massages
the eardrum. This helps to regulate the pressures involved
inside the ear. The
effect is sometimes described as a "lighter feeling" in
the head and ear.
The
flow of air creates a circulation of concentrated vapour; this
is soothing, calming and protects the irritated areas. The
warmth of the flow stimulates the circulatory and lymphatic
systems and increases immune defence and cleansing. It also
stimulates energy and reflex points. The chimney effect inside
the Ear Candle and the natural movement of the flame serve
to gently massage the eardrum. This has an effect of regulating
ear pressure.
Whilst
the candle is burning a pleasant warmth can be felt around
the ear, head and neck area. After treatment the clients usually
describe a soothing, liberating, light sensation in the ear
and head area.
What
are Hopi
Ear Candles used
for?
The
hopi ear candle is lit at the top and the tapered end is gently
placed into the ear, the therapist's hands are then placed
lightly over the ear to steady the candle. Each candle takes
about 12-15 minutes to burn
You
may hear a slight crackling or fizzing noise as the hopi ear
candle burns and may also feel warmth around the ear.
Treatment
is then repeated for the second ear and completed with a soothing
facial massage.
Many
people find the use of hopi candles deeply relaxing and often
fall asleep during treatment.
Treatment
is recommend every 4-6 weeks for preventative and revitalizing
purposes. For chronic conditions such as sinusitis you may
be asked to return in two weeks.
Length
of treatment
and cost
- A treatment
takes between 45 minutes and 1 hours, costing £28
